Hi, everyone. I have transferred today from the new member's forum. I would like to invite you to join me in posting what part of your exercise regime you have done today (so long as it has been sanctioned by your rheumatology team)
Moi? Friday is my rest day! I have two days of complete rest a week. I hope that will help some of you post that today was a rest day too for you and that tomorrow you will start some of that exercise you have been meaning to do for a while. It's Saturday so there are no excuses! For those of you who have engaged in some exercise today, I would love to hear what you have been up to.

Took child to school - went to work - collected child from school, 20 mins essential shopping, ignored chronic fatigue did 1 hr ironing. Siezed up on sofa. Too tired to even speak. Does that count? Seriously though - I need to do some form of aerobic exercise but am struggling because feet so bad. I'd be interested to hear what other people do. Must cofess - I know swimming would be best but I hate it. Julie xx

I work in a school assisting children needing more help. Today being the last day we The Whole School walked to the church there and back for a service, quite a walk up and down hills to get there in the heat too. I was tired when I got back so I will call that mine for today and will start doing something regular tomorrow. Thanks I will really try to keep this up. Lorna

walked four dogs for 11/2 hours, drove home , bathed two dogs; and tidied some garden stuff up, took stuff to tip ; and did shopping on the way home; then had coffee at home and sat down for 20 minutes.........woke up some hours later with HUGE dog on my lap, too knackered to push him off, hurt all over, rested again, watched tv., now going to bed, too tired and tearful (PAIN!!!) to stay up any longer, Lxx Always be aware that what you do might hurt others........and if it could, do nothing without careful consideration of the consequences

What I count as exercise is anything I set out to do as ("prescribed") exercise in addition to my daily activities. Personally, with daily activities, I used to pace myself and not push myself beyond fatigue. I would stop exercise as well if I felt actually fatigued as opposed to with a minor pain.

Going swimming on Tuesday!! I LOVE the water because I can walk easily in there. Also Trying to loose some of the horrendous weight I gained during the years in a wheelchair. YOU ARE JUST WHAT WE NEED ON HERE, ALICE. THANKS! jEANX

Alice, I do lots of walking, I dont drive and care for young children and push a double buggy around. May not seem much, but my feet give me lots of pain every day, and have just gone back on pred after coming off around 4 weeks ago. Maybe when I feel better I can actually enjoy doing something, right now its just a painful and necessary evil for me. I loved doing hydro sessions, but most pools arent warm enough and I cant swim. Good for you for being able to exercise, and keep yourself well to fight the diseaseBARBARA

Barbara - you have been and still are VERY poorly and mustn't push yourself, no matter what anyone says. Once you are sorted, then you can begin to think about exercise. Some of us would love to be able to hill walk etc but due to joint replacements and the progression of the disease, can't. We do what we can.
Take care, Barbara

I have come to terms with the fact that one cannot send individual "public" replies in this forum i.e. reply to a message as an offshoot of the main one. So here, goes. Julie - I wonder whether you would enjoy aquarobics if you don't like swimming? I used to go to an aquarobics class for elderly ladies when I used to wobble along. I was the youngest person in the group but it was fantastic - I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Good luck with your endeavours, Lora, and please keep us posted. Every bit counts, even walking to the hairdressers: it's only last week that I started doing that too i.e. walking to the local shop rather than take the car, parking further away from the supermarket door, etc. Lylie- I hope you don't overdo it again - rest is an essential part of the day and of any exercise plan. Thank you so much for the encouragement, Jean, I look forward to hearing of your progress. I agree with you that someone who has been unwell, as I hear Barbara has been, should not do anything strenuous. But even if you are bedbound, it's important to do gentle range of movement exercises every day, as prescribed by your physiotherapist.

LOL- Lylie- your post made me tired just reading it! Respect to you!!
On Friday I unloaded bags of shopping and then cooked a huge indian feast for most of the day which wasn't exercising although it was too much standing!
That evening I ate part of the indian feast and exercised my mouth by talking to my family and guests.
I have walked today, baked three cakes, put on the line three sets of washing and slept. Oh and been sick twice. !
My usual 'exercise' is walking. My family went on a six mile hike to see Churchill's grave todayI was with them mentally, honest!
